Having enjoyed a successful start to the season with wins at Egbaston Priory and Barnt Green, Stratford 1st team welcomed Solihull Arden 2nds.
At third string, Simon Kemp competed in a hard fought match, the opening four games being shared between the players. Unfortunately for the home player, his opponent managed to gain an early upper hand in the 5th, managing to close it out and capture the match 3-2 for Solihull.
Stratford youngster, George Owen took to the court at fourth string. In a similarly hard fought contest, the opening four games were split between the players. With the rallies being played at a high tempo both players continued their intensity of squash throughout the deciding final game. Having saved a match ball, Owen managed to scrape back the match in Stratford’s favour winning 12-10 in the fifth to level the tie.
At first string, Richard Rosenthal continued his unbeaten streak with a comfortable win. Although not playing to his normal high level of play, the Stratford player had too much skill and fitness for his opponent seeing out the match 3-1.
Also having been unbeaten so far this season, Glenn Danks was involved in yet another close contest with his opposite number at fifth string. For the third match of the night going the distance, Glenn could not edge out the deciding fifth game, eventually losing 11-6 in the fifth.
With the match scores level at two apiece, it was Stratford’s second string Simon Johns who was charged with securing the match. Johns came out the block quicker than his opponent, not allowing his opponent to find his rhythm taking the first two games in quick succession. With his opponent getting back into the match, the third game was more closely contested, however Johns managed to stay ahead taking the third game 11-9 and secure the match for Stratford.
