Squash League Scoring/Monthly League Movement

Squash League Scoring

For each match played score one point for each game won and enter the score in the system -  in addition to that the system will automatically awarded :

One extra point for playing the match.

One extra point to the match winner if it was not a draw.

Players completing all their league matches will be awarded 5 bonus points - anyone who has not played all their matches is not entitled to bonus points.

Matches Not Played

A player offering two games on booked courts, during the month, to another player who cannot make either should record the score as W3 (Walkover) and the player who cannot play should be recorded as 0 - but to avoid dispute it would be preferable if both parties agreed to this score line before the end of the month.

Where a court is booked and one player does not turn out then, unless an alternative date is arranged, the player who did turn out should also score as W3 and 0 for the player who did not turn up.

Where matches are not played for whatever other reason then the match will be automatically recorded as not played with no points and the players concerned should not make any entry on the system.

Matches Played but not completed

Matches played but not completed because of court timeout shall either:

At the second session, start at the score of completed games after the first session.

Or,

If the scores after the first session are two games all, the second session should be played the best of three games for deciding the match to gain the extra point for an overall match score of 3-2.

Or,

If it is not possible to play a second session, then each player scores the number of points won in the first session

Matches played but not completed because of injury shall either:

At the second session, start at the score of completed games after the first session.

Or,

If the scores after the first session are two games all, the second session should be played the best of three games for deciding the match to gain the extra point for an overall match score of 3-2.

Or,

If it is not possible to play a second session, the obligation to make arrangements to play again being with the injured player, then each player scores the number of points won in the first session.

If there is conflict between the two players regarding responsibility for the infliction of the injury then this must be immediately referred to the Club Chairman and League Secretary.,

OptIn-OptOut of leagues

If a player wishes to withdraw from or rejoin the forthcoming league  then this should be indicated via the form on the opt in opt out page on this website.

Monthly League Movement

If two or more members in a league have scored the same overall total then the scores are reworked in a ‘mini- league’ containing just those members and if there is still no way to distinguish a result then it will be taken as the order in the league in which those members commenced the month.

In each league, the winner will go up two leagues, the second placed will go up one league, the bottom but one placed will go down one league and the bottom placed will go down two league, however in the top leagues the bottom placed in the first league will swap with the first placed in league 3 and the top two placed in league 2 will swap with the third and fourth placed in league 1.

Any player who has not played any games for the previous two months, without explanation, will be omitted from the next month’s leagues.

No player can join or re join the leagues above the fourth division.

When new members join the leagues or players return to the leagues it and are placed according to their standard, it does mean that there are occasions when other players may not advance up the leagues, as they would be expecting.
